With summer finally upon us, June saw Team McNabs favourite competition of the season - Luhmuhlen CIC***.
Emma and Fernhill Tobasco (Toby) started the month having a quiet canter around the Open Intermediate at Little Downham Horse Trials in preparation for the main event in Germany.
Having arrived safely, Toby put in a fantastic performance in the dressage, finishing on a score of 40.5% in a seriously competitive CIC3*** class, leaving the pair excited about the following cross-country. Emma was thrilled with their run; as Toby jumped a super clear round with just a few time penalties to add. In the show jumping Toby was unlucky to have one fence down after slightly lacking in power when jumping an oxer. With Luhmuhlen CIC***, all over for another year, Emma was delighted at Toby’s progress.
The McNab Team ensured that Toby was looking his best at the high profile event thanks sponsors Absorbine and he had Koolpaks from Robinson Animal Healthcare applied to his legs straight after each phase to reduce any fluid build-up.
After Kevin's fall at Rockingham he had to have a few weeks off to mend. During this time Emma and Kajsa kept the horses going. As well as some Show Jumping days at Crofton Manor Equestrian and Coombelands Equestrian, Emma was lucky to compete some of Kevin's horses at Barbury, Upton and Tweseldown Horse Trials.
Brookfield Innocent and Brookfield Quality both jumped beautifully around the CIC** at Barbury while the other horses cantered quietly around Upton and Tweseldown.
Fernhill Tabasco was selected to be part of the Australian Nations Cup team at Aachen. This was an amazing experience for Emma to compete at Aachen and a fantastic opportunity to represent her country. Toby was a star. He did a beautiful test to score a 37.4 which had them sitting in 6th after the dressage. Unfortunately a couple of mistakes meant the pair didn't finish the way they had planned but team finished 2nd behind Germany. This was a fantastic team result and very exciting to have Toby on the radar for the future.
Kevin returned to competition with a bang at Camphire Horse Trials in Ireland! He had Casperelli, Clifton Spyder, Brookfield Innocent and Brookfield Quality in the CIC**. The dressage was seriously impressive to be sitting 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th after the first phase, all on sub 40 penalties. Brookfield Innocent finished 1st on 33.6 and 2nd with Brookfield Quality on a 38.6. A very impressive way to come back!
Kevin also won the five-year- old Event horse class at Camphire with Brookfield Benjamin Bounce.
Hopefully the Summer will continue to be a winning one for both Kevin and Emma.
